Today Taylor and Connor started ice skating... I woke up this morning went and sat on the couch with the kids and began watching cartoons getting them ready to go to dance was always SO easy how hard would getting them ready for ice skating gonna be..we had skating at 10 it was 7 we had plenty of time around 830 I decided to send the kids up to brush their teeth I'd meet them up there. I got upstairs shortly after they were done and opened Taylor's closet...What in the WORLD do I send them in for ice skating.
35* rink two always cold children...bound to fall and end up freezing and wet!
What happened to Taylor wanting to be a dancer she said she loved it...dance is so easy tight, leotard, skirt, thats all its THAT simple. I sit and STARE for what seemed like way to many minutes and finally look at Taylor and say uhh what should you wear.
She shruggs her shoulders and continues to stare at me and back in to drawers like something is MAGICALLY going to pop out...I think we BOTH where counting on this...
I NEVER ice skated I was a dancer, dance is my forte ice skating is SCARY!
So I grab a pair of underwear socks and pair of leggings to start
Then I decide a thicker pair of sweat pants over them will do...WOW how can you move in that much CLOTHES!!!!
Then I open the drawer that contains all the shirts...I find a matching tank top, long sleeve shirt and a hoodie, the girl has to match! I pass her the clothes and she gets dressed, I then pick another outfit as a JUST IN CASE, she gets so wet and cold she wants to die!
Then its to Connor, why is Connor ice skating? well he tried dance..why not skating?
So I walk in his room with determination, this seems a bit easier. I choose a tighter fighting sweat pants and a pair of thicker baggier ones for over top then go into his drawer get an undershirt a long john shirt and a fleece hoodie of course ALL matching, even down to his matching red socks!
I again get him a just in case outfit and head down the stairs.
I think DANG these kids are very klutzy do i send them with helmets?...better to be safe then sorry I go into the garage and get them, then dig for what seem for hour, for matching mittens, hats, and shoes. I get their coats on them and realize I am not even ready yet!
So i go get ready as fast as lightening start the car load it snacks, water, tissue (they are sensitive kids and we ALL have colds), helmets and a blanket for me! <3
I finally get them loaded in the car it is nearly 930 I still need to drive 15 minutes to the rink, rent skates, get two pairs of skates on children, and get them on the ice HOPEFULLY!
We get to the rink Connor's whinning has already started LORD SAVE ME!
We get in the rink and life seems to become a magical BREEZE. I become SuperNanny!
I felt like I was invigorated I could do ANYTHING, I get both their skates and helmets on and have them practice walking with the skates around the area.
Taylor was doing GREAT Connor well yaa he should be a soccer player!
So they finally start the class Connor is ALREADY freaking out. They teach them how to get up off the ice if they fall Connor is like a dead fish and Taylor zooms up! My little natural!!
Now its time to get onto the ice...
look at their faces they look SO SCARED!
Connor needs someone to help him most of the time, while Taylor is doing it all on her own, even if she does fall she gets RIGHT back up I am sooo proud!!!
Taylor was the only girl in the class and she showed all those boys how it was DONE!
Connor on the other hand after about a half hour was done and ready for some Ms. LouAnn cuddle time so they brought him to me and we watched Taylor while she did her last half hour of doing AMAZING!
We sat there and warmed up and cheered our Taylor on! The teacher brought me to the side to tell me how impressed she was with Taylor asking if I was lying about it being her first time! I was so proud, its no dance but I think I can deal with Ice Skating ESPECIALLY if it means TAY is the best in the class
This is Tay looking so proud she can skate on her own with NO help!!
After Skating we went to McDonalds as a reward bc I was SOOO proud of my babies!!
We hung out did crafts and enjoyed the rest of the day!
Connor even went poop in the potty for the FIRST TIME!! I was so proud of both of my babies today, both trying something new and then not only Connor for going potty in the big boy potty but how Taylor encouraged him after the fact was just AMAZING!!
I love Taylor and Connor. I couldn't imagine having any other job then taking care of them every day!
I am so blessed to have the life I live and wouldn't change it for a thing!
Praise God he is such a GREAT God!
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
